Speakers

Ilia Larionov is a Toronto-based Product Design Lead at Shopify who's been responsible for helping define and build the team's design discipline through its tremendous growth. Most recently, his efforts have also been focused on designing the products that help Shopify's merchants create, publish and market their products. Previously, Ilia was an integral part of the design team at Jet Cooper, a leading product design agency that was acquired by Shopify in 2013.
With an undying desire to push what is possible with typography and lettering, Ben Johnston is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer that believes in a hand-crafted approach to all his design endeavours. 
 
Born in Canada and raised in South Africa, Ben brings a diverse sense of influence to his work - finding inspiration from the small cultural nuances to societal differences that he encounters throughout his travels. He has been featured in numerous magazines and online publications worldwide and his work has won numerous design awards including Communication Arts for custom lettering, Print Mag award for typographic murals and also multiple TDC awards.
 
Ben is currently living in Toronto and working for clients such as Nike, Adobe, Sierra Nevada, Ford, Jameson, and Aston Martin. Find him on Instagram and view his work.  
Rabiya Samji leads the first in-house user experience research practice at Canada Post. She plays a pivotal role in mentoring a team of UX designers, researchers and content strategists on how to translate user insights into product opportunities.
 
Within her role, Rabiya champions for the user in the design of all of Canada Post’s digital products and drives the UX strategy across the organization. Previously, Rabiya was a senior consultant at Phase5UX where she provided her clients with evidence-based design solutions to improve the overall experience of their products.  

Lindsay Ellerby is the Senior Design Director at Normative where she leads the team on a wide range of design projects that include research, interaction design, product innovation and strategy, and end-to-end design of software applications. Stemming from her fascination with cybernetics, she is passionate about designing for complex systems and working on unsolvable problems. Lindsay has worked in the field of design for more than a decade helping teams execute on complex projects for organizations including Rogers Communications Inc., Toronto Public Library, ConAgra, SickKids, Xerox PARC and Citibank. 

Aleksandra Savic is a Director of User Experience at Klick Health, the world’s largest independent digital health agency. She leads the design of products, services, and digital standards for global healthcare clients. Her practice includes design strategy, creative workshop facilitation, user research, user testing, and interaction design. She is responsible for developing and mentoring designers, as well as evolving Klick’s design practice.

A design professional that has worked in the industry for 15 years, Aleksandra is also an active member of the User Experience community. She served as a local leader for the international IxDA organization, and also speaks at conferences on UX-related subjects.
