By now, everyone is familiar with Best Buy’s Geek Squad, a team of trained experts who come to customer homes to install and repair technologies.
Now Amazon has decided to offer a similar service as the company increasingly makes and sells smart home technologies.
The service is already available in select markets, though Amazon surrounded the launch with zero fanfare. It promises to build you a smart home, optimize Echo devices for specific household need, and enable customers to control things like lights and temperature through voice commands.
Amazon is charging $99 for basic installation services, such as installing a smart thermostat. It’s also offering free Alexa Smart Home Consultations to help consumers become familiar with the product’s capabilities.
Today is Amazon Prime Day, the company’s big annual sale, and it includes a 20% discount on these services.
