In the startup world, we often have our heads down as we keep our noses to the grindstone, but sometimes it’s a good idea to look up and smell the roses. The Canadian tech community has come a long way in the last decade—CB Insights reports that approximately US$1.7 Billion was raised for 266 Canadian companies last year.

This success is the result of tireless effort from a variety of key people and initiatives put into place by government, entrepreneurs and venture financing.
