Chris Lattner, Who Created Swift for Apple, Joins Tesla

Chris Lattner has joined Tesla, the company announced this week.

Lattner hails from Apple, where he worked for 11 years. At Apple he created Swift, a programming language for building apps on the Apple platform.

At Tesla, Lattner will assume the role of  Vice President of Autopilot Software.

“We would like to welcome Chris Lattner, who will join Tesla as our Vice President of Autopilot Software,” the company said in a statement. “Chris’s reputation for engineering excellence is well known.”

Tesla says Lattner will “lead our Autopilot engineering team and accelerate the future of autonomous driving.”
