Elon Musk to Unveil Unexpected New Tesla Product on October 17th

According to founder Elon Musk, Tesla will unveil something “unexpected by most” on Monday, October 17.

Musk further noted that the expected Tesla/SolarCity announcement, which he previously hoped to hold at the end of the month, would indeed be on October 28th.

It is widely anticipated that Musk will be unveil Tesla’s new ‘Solar Roof’ product, in partnership with SolarCity, as well as a next generation Powerwall and new ‘Tesla charger’ on October 28th.

But yesterday’s tweet suggest that Musk will be revealing something new in addition to these innovations.

But what could that be? Part II of Musk’s master plan included expanding the electric vehicle product line to address all major vehicle segments and developing self-driving capability that is 10X safer than manual via massive fleet learning.

Has Tesla made enough progress on one of those lofty goals to make a formal announcement only three short months later?

Musk also tweeted today to confirm that neither Tesla nor SolarCity will need to raise either additional equity or corporate debt in the fourth quarter.
