Elon Musk’s Neuralink Has $27 Million for Brain-Computer Project

Elon Musk’s latest project to link human brains with computers has secured $27 million.

Neuralink intends to develop a device that can be implanted in a human to supercharge their intelligence with that of a computer.

While the neurotechnology company now has $27 million in funding, there’s still $63 million worth of equity left to sell, according to a notice released by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Musk confirmed in a tweet that Neuralink isn’t seeking outside investors to raise money for the project.

When the company first went public in April, Musk explained Neuralink’s first goal is to make a device that can help those suffering from degenerative brain diseases, then carry forward with a universal device to boost human intelligence.

It’s no surprise Musk’s fourth venture is concerned with building brain chips for humans. He has become known for his frequent warnings of the potentially dangerous applications of artificial intelligence and how certain developments in the field should be outright banned.
