Esteemed Engineer Leaves Uber After Media Outs Him for Sexual Harassment
Uber’s senior vice president of engineering has resigned in disgrace after tech blog Recode informed company executives that he left Google in 2016 over allegations of sexual harassment.
Amit Singhal left Uber, despite passing extensive background checks when he was hired, because Recode recently resurfaced prior claims from his time at Google. CEO Travis Kalanick asked Singhal to resign, though he still denies the allegation.
“I certainly want everyone to know that I do not condone and have not committed [sexual harassment],” he wrote to Recode in an email.
Uber is currently being investigated for possessing a toxic corporate culture rife with sexual harassment.
