Global Financial Technology Firms to Converge in Toronto for Mobey Day

Global innovators and influencers in the payment and financial technology industry are set to converge in Toronto in December as Carta Worldwide and Mobey Forum host the first North American Mobey Day.

At the Four Seasons Toronto on Yorkville Avenue, Mobey Day will bring together some of the world’s top fintech leaders from companies such as PayPal, SecureKey, World First, and Visa.

“Toronto is definitely a new fintech hub on the world’s stage, and we can only expect this position to grow even stronger after Mobey Day,” says Giles Sutherland, Vice President Strategic Alliances of Carta Worldwide. “Mobey Day is going to be an inspiring conference focused on changing banking for the better through advancement and smart integration.”

Fintech is currently one of the fastest growing segments in the banking world as more and more businesses shift towards mobile payments, in addition to opportunities created by artificial intelligence to predict consumer behavior. Originally an annual event in Barcelona, Mobey Day tackles the past, present, and future of banking technology.

“The future of banking will need to constantly adapt and accommodate new innovations,” said Derek Colfer, Head of Digital Innovation, Visa Canada. “Mobey Day is a great platform that provides exposure on a global level, and the Visa ‘Bank of the Future’ UI/UX competition, enabled by Visa Developer will be a great opportunity to showcase local innovation and talent.”

At the event will be the Visa “Bank of the Future” User Interface/User Experience competition, which invites entrants to design a completely new banking and payment app that integrates a suite of Visa Developer API’s. The winning team collects a cash prize of $15k and a potential chance to work with Visa to build a prototype of the winning submission with the Visa Developer Program, which offers direct access to a growing number of APIs, tools, and support to start building easier, faster and more secure ways to power commerce.

Mobey Day registration is free for all existing Mobey Forum members and $900 (early bird price) until November 25 for non-members.
