History of Puget Sound tech universe

As part of its 25th anniversary celebration, the Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) unveiled a poster-sized map today that portrays the history of the technology universe in the Puget Sound area. The map shows how six organizations – The University of Washington, Microsoft, McCaw Cellular Communications, Aldus, Boeing, and Amazon – laid the foundation for a regional technology ecosystem that now encompasses more than 750 companies, educational institutions and related organizations. Today, the Puget Sound area is one of the leading technology centers in the world.

The WTIA is introducing the map this morning at its Urban Leadership Series breakfast in Seattle at 8:00am but Techvibes was given an opportunity to preview an electronic version of the map in advance.
