Merchants Will Soon Be Able to Sell Their Products on eBay Through Shopify Platform

eBay announced this morning that Shopify merchants will soon be able to sell their products on the auction site from their Shopify account.

The new channel offers merchants on the Canadian-based platform to surface their brand to a new audience of 169 million active eBay buyers, while eBay shoppers will gain access to a range of Shopify stores.

“eBay is focused on delivering the best choice and selection of inventory to buyers across the globe,” said Bob Kupbens, VP of Global Trust & Seller Experience, eBay. “This new integration with Shopify will bring even more great products to eBay buyers, while offering Shopify merchants the ability to seamlessly drive their business and brand at scale by tapping into our vibrant marketplace.”

eBay is not the only sales channel Shopify offers merchants. Others include Amazon, Facebook, and Pinterest. Shopify leverages its Sales Channel Platform, a collection of APIs that can be used to add commerce to any app or platform, for these integrations.

“Shopify is the industry leader when it comes to multi-channel commerce, and we look to partner with the best and biggest platforms to bring new sales opportunities to our merchants,” said Satish Kanwar, VP of Product, Shopify. “The eBay channel has the potential to introduce our merchants to the marketplace’s millions of buyers, exposing merchants to a massive number of new sales opportunities.”

The eBay sales channel is expected to be available this fall for Shopify merchants selling with US dollars from the US. No word on when additional currencies and regions will be added.

Shopify also recently added the ability for merchants seeking an exit to sell their stores online.
