Nintendo Switch Online App Now Available on Mobile Devices
Nintendo has released its app for Switch Online for iOS and Android.
The app completes the online play features the Switch lacked when it launched earlier this year, though the first mobile-first title—Splatoon 2—is not slated for release until Friday.
The app itself is free, as is access to Nintendo’s online service—for now. Effective next year, the company will charge an annual subscription fee of $20.
Splatoon 2, a sequel to the original of the same name, is a colorful, cartoonish shooter-style game infused with nautical themes.
Nintendo has not yet named any more upcoming titles for the app, which features voice chat, although critics have already panned the company’s approach to the concept.
