Spotify Reaches 50 Million Paid Subscribers, Continues to Lead Music Streaming Market

Despite increasing competition, Spotify continues to lead the pack among music streaming services. The company this week tweeted that it has reached 50 million paid subscribers, up from 40 million in September.

Factoring in non-paying users, that number more than doubles to over 100 million. That’s significantly more than competitors like Apple Music, Google Play, and Tidal.

Apple Music has 20 million paying users as of December, which is impressive considering the service is less than two years old. Apple is also actively working toward enhancing the experience of the service by adding original video content.
