Tiny Speck raises $5 Million
Lots of fake press releases and news circulating today but this one appears to be legit.
According to GigaOm, Vancouver and San Francisco co-located Tiny Speck has raised $5 Million in Series A funding from Accel Partners and Andreessen Horowitz.
Tiny Speck was founded by former Flickr Co-founder Stewart Butterfield and Techvibes named him as one of the Digital Media People to watch in BC in 2010.
In February, Butterfield revealed Tiny Speck’s first project: Glitch. As suspected by many, it’s an online game in the vein of Game Neverending, the gaming project that eventually became photo-sharing Flickr. Glitch is a massively-multiplayer game, playable in the browser and built in the spirit of the web. It is currently in development and will launch late in 2010. Private alpha is beginning shortly and a public beta period will begin this summer.
