TSA to Separately X-Ray Tablets And Other Mobile Devices Through Security

The Transportation Security Administration is tightening security at US airports.

The TSA says that moving forward, tablets must now be x-rayed separately—that is, outside of your luggage—just like laptops.

This also includes e-readers, portable gaming consoles and pretty much any similar device larger than a smartphone.

The move allows officers to “more closely focus on resolving alarms and stopping terror threats,” according to a statement from the TSA.

The TSA also warned travellers that passengers “may experience more bag checks,” which could lengthen security wait times.
