Where are you working currently, and what do you do there?

I am currently a People Analytics Partner at AIG. I serve as the primary analytics consultant for employee data in the International space, covering roughly 15,000 employees.

Can you tell us a bit about your education and career background?

I attended Texas A&M University where I studied Finance and Economics. Through my education, I developed a deep interest in data analytics and data modeling.

My professional journey began at AIG three years ago, where I found myself eager to apply analytical methods to shape AIG's people strategy. My current role plays an influential part in fostering a data-driven culture and ensuring decisions are strategically informed.

Why did you choose to study at BrainStation?

I chose to study at BrainStation to learn from industry leaders, understand best practices, and build long-lasting connections.

The knowledge I gained through BrainStation supports my career by enabling me to do my role more confidently and efficiently.

What motivated you to start digital skills training?

My motivation to start digital skills training came from a desire to level-up my knowledge and skill set to excel in my current role and prepare for roles in the future.

What was the highlight of your learning experience?

The highlight of my learning experience was learning from my diverse classmates. My classmates came from a wide range of industries, and each offered a unique set of experiences and perspectives. It was incredible to collaborate with so many brilliant minds on a weekly basis.

What was the most challenging part of your learning experience?

The most challenging part of my learning experience was uncovering and working through my weak spots. The course content covered machine learning in end-to-end detail and, naturally, some topics were easier to understand than others. I had to actively commit to learning, engage with my Instructor, and reach out to my peers to solidify my learning. Thankfully, BrainStation offers a wide range of support through these challenges!

How has your BrainStation experience impacted your career?

The knowledge I gained through BrainStation supports my career by enabling me to do my role more confidently and efficiently.

What would you say were the most valuable skills you learned?

The most valuable skill I learned was being comfortable with being uncomfortable. Expanding your horizons can cause short-term discomfort in exchange for long-term growth.

How have you incorporated those skills into your current role?

I'm able to wrangle massive amounts of data, introduce new ideas, and apply industry best practices in my day-to-day work.

What advice would you give to professionals considering a BrainStation course?

Don't hold yourself back! Dive into a new subject, stay engaged, and ask questions when things get tough. You are so much brighter than you might tell yourself.
