Apple Hires Prominent Researcher to Improve Artificial Intelligence Products Like Siri
Apple may be questioning its place in the autonomous vehicle space, but the company is steadfast in its commitment to artificial intelligence.
The tech titan has hired Russ Salakhutdinov, a prominent AI researcher from Carnegie Mellon University. He’s now Apple’s director of AI research and is already seeking machine learning specialists to build out his team.
Excited about joining Apple as a director of AI research in addition to my work at CMU. Apply to work with my teamhttps://t.co/U2hQl2GdhA

Salakhutdinov has also conducted research for the University of Toronto and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Apple’s most obvious AI product is Siri, which permeates virtually all of its hardware products—and also needs a lot of work. The iPhone maker has acquired several AI companies this year alone, including Tuplejump, Tury, and Perceptio.
