Canadian Startup 500px Updates Mobile App to Remove NSFW Photographs

Toronto’s 500px has released a minor update to its iPad app that made waves this morning: it appeared to block all NSFW photography from the mobile app. Apple has an aversion to porn, but it wasn’t actually them who forced the change. Instead, 500px decided to do it on their own accord.

As it turns out, though, the NSFW photography—which was already well-blocked within the app via warning layers—can still be viewed from one’s iPad. The difference is that the setting for viewing NSFW material—which is by default turned off—can only be changed on the Canadian startup’s website; that is, the settings have been removed form the mobile app, but not removed completely.
