Techvibes TV: Cardinal’s Cory Smith and Takin’ VC Money (Money Cash IPOs)

While the entire lineup of speakers at the GROW 2011 Conference in Vancouver last month was definitely entertaining, there really was only one ‘entertainer’ that hit the stage.

Cardinal Media Technologies’ Cory Smith performed “Takin’ VC Money (Money Cash IPOs)” just after the lunch break and the hilarious track was later posted to Soundcloud. In the song startup co-founder and amateur rapper Smith chronicles some of the highlights of startup life: raising capital, attracting celebrity attention, 5-Hour Energy binges, getting launch coverage and concerns about pivoting.

The rap song also name drops celebrity investor Ashton Kutcher and venture capitalist Fred Wilson. Both took notice and shared the song with their Twitter followers and it has now been played almost 20,000 times.

After his performance Techvibes Michelle Sklar sat down with Smith to learn a bit more about his Calgary-based startup and Smith was kind enough to recite a couple verses of Takin’ VC Money for our camera.

Check out Smith’s on-stage performance at the GROW 2011 Conference after the jump.
