Prior to leading her multidisciplinary team of front-end developers, designers, researchers and content strategists at Shopify, Lynsey designed video games, focusing on interaction design. Passionate about user-centred design, she has spent the last 10 years integrating UX research and design methodologies into fast moving technology companies. She spends her time between Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto.

As Director of UX, Lynsey Thornton leads Shopify's talented team of designers, ux researchers, content strategists, and front end developers. She's spent most of her career helping fast growing companies develop and scale their UX teams. Over the last four years she's seen Shopify's UX team turn from a team of 10 people into a 180 person group that deeply impact the decisions that drive our company and product success. 

Kyle Treleaven will be moderating the Fireside Chat. Kyle is BrainStation Vancouver's General Manager. With over 10 years of startup industry experience, focused in growing online communities and ecommernce. He’s motivated by creating a collaborative and innovative space where lifelong learners can level up their digital skills.
