Prior to leading her multidisciplinary team of front-end developers, designers, researchers and content strategists at Shopify, Lynsey designed video games, focusing on interaction design. Passionate about user-centred design, she has spent the last 10 years integrating UX research and design methodologies into fast moving technology companies. She spends her time between Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto.

Speakers

Originally from Ireland, and currently based in Vancouver, BC, Lynsey Thornton is the Director of UX at Shopify. With a background in design, project management and business, she focusses on building UX teams and practices in high-growth tech companies. Her true loves are ethnographic research, and developing women in tech. A self-described “Dubliner loving Canada", she originally moved to North America to gain some international work experience. Nowadays, Lynsey is a frequent speaker and judge at UX events.

Kyle Treleaven will be moderating the Fireside Chat. Kyle is BrainStation Vancouver's General Manager. With over 10 years of startup industry experience, focused in growing online communities and ecommernce. He’s motivated by creating a collaborative and innovative space where lifelong learners can level up their digital skills.
