Is This Course For Me?
BrainStation’s Data Analytics course is tailored to beginners who want to learn how to utilize data more effectively. The part-time course breaks down data analytics into 4 components: Understanding Data, Analyzing Data, Databases, and Communicating Data.
Throughout the course, you will work on a project to apply each lesson’s key learnings, thereby giving them the opportunity to build out a dashboard to provide insight into a publicly available set of data.
Data collection and analysis may seem intimidating, but it doesn't have to be. This course will present, in easy-to-understand terms, what it takes to be a Data Analyst or work effectively with data. You will walk away from this course feeling comfortable working with large sets of data as well as using data effectively in the decision making process.
The principles taught in this course can be used in the fields of marketing, product development, project management, or general business administration. You will learn why data is one of the crucial elements of the decision making process and its significance in the operations of organizations both large and small.

“My education at BrainStation has been an extraordinary experience. Opportunities that had previously seemed impossible because of my technical limitations now feel within reach, and new entrepreneurial ideas are coming to me in ways I never anticipated before I began learning.”

Student Project Showcase
Problem Space
We were inspired by the recent news events of a few US airlines kicking passengers off their flights.
Project Description
We took an in-depth look at trends over the past eight years in passenger boardings, number of denied boardings, retribution paid to passengers, airline satisfaction scores and social media activity related to the major airlines.
Learning Outcomes
The project allowed me to apply the data analytics skills I learned in class to a real-life business situation. We sourced out multiple datasets and pulled them into SQL, wrote queries to make the data usable for our analysis, then we exported the file into Tableau so that we could visualize the data and provide insights for our final presentation.

Andrew Consky
“My goal in taking this course was to increase my understanding of databases and to gain a basic understanding of SQL. I was also interested in broadening my knowledge of Tableau and how to better use the tool to visualize data and create dashboards.”
