Pilots for Amazon Say Company Will Struggle to Deliver Gifts in Time for Christmas
Amazon may face difficulties shipping gifts in time for Christmas, according to union pilots who fly for the company’s new Prime Air fleet.
Expressing concerns over pay and working conditions, the Airline Professionals Association has been funding advertisements on Facebook and Google targeting Amazon customers. The ads direct users to a website called Can Amazon Deliver?
This is the first holiday season for Prime Air’s fleet, which launched to reduce Amazon’s dependence on FedEx and UPS.
“Amazon just launched its own airline shipping service, Prime Air, but without the staff or expertise to run its own airline, the company is relying on third-party contracted cargo airlines for deliveries,” the site reads. “The airlines don’t have enough pilots to meet the demands of Amazon because their experienced pilots are leaving for better jobs at other airlines.”
At this rate, the site says, “there may not be enough pilots to deliver for Amazon around the holidays.”
